Lands
Lands are a type of card with special rules. Every turn you can play a single land from your hand into the battlefield. There are 6 main types of basic
lands, 1 for each colour plus one for colourless. Mountains produce red mana, islands produce blue, forests - green, swamps - black, plains - white and
wastelands produce colourless mana.
There are also no-basic lands, these includ things like dual lands which can produce multiple colours of lands, bounce lands which return another land
to your hand when played and sack lands, which sacrifice themselves to search for a basic land. These lands are subject to the card limits per deck
unlike basic lands.
Mana
Mana is the name for the resourse required to cast spells. it is split into 5 colours, green; white; blue; black; and red; plus colourless mana.
Cards have a mana value on the top right which can include colour symbols and numbers, the colour symbols must be paid with that specific colour but the
number can be paid with any colour as long as there is enough for the number.
Mana is produced mainly by tapping lands (tapping is the term for when you acitvate a tap ability bu rotating the card to the side to signify it has been tapped and cannot be again until untapped))
but ther are other ways to produce mana, for example some creatures and artifacts tap for mana, some effects will increase the amount of mana you will recieve.
